It's now less than a month before we will march on Parliament and demand a reversal of our Roe v Wade here in Victoria. Members of the original and current March For The Babies committee, Youth For Life would like to extend an invitation to you to march with us at this sad event.

As we mark the year anniversary of our state sanctioned killing, we will renew our fervour and plan to redouble our efforts. We will remember those of our most vulnerable brothers and sisters who were silenced this year, their tiny bodies mangled and thrown like so much rubbish into surgical bins. We will remember the lives destroyed by abortion, the denied grandparents, the voiceless men, the wounded women, the berefit siblings. We will combine our prayers and our actions with added vigor - no matter the lies, the criticism, the backbiting; no matter the suffering, the personal cost to our reputations, our pockets and our popularity - we shall stand firm and we shall overcome!

On October 10, 2008, the Victorian Parliament passed the Abortion Law Reform Act, one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world. This law eliminated all legal protection for Victorian children until the moment of birth. In remembrance of this shameful day, we gather to march for the babies who never see the light of day in Victoria. The babies of every one in three pregnancies. The more than 20,000 babies killed in Victoria every year.Together we express our profound disapproval with our Government's failure to:

* Protect the fundamental right to life of every person in our state.

* Offer real help to women in crisis pregnancies, and others who have suffered through abortion.

* Allow freedom of conscience for our health care professionals.

Our goal is to overturn this terrible law and provide full legal protection to our most vulnerable Victorians. Please join us, as we march in this peaceful witness to life, from Treasury Gardens to Parliament House, and hear inspirational speakers and music with a message of courage and hope.

Pro-Life Boot Camp

Youth For Life's first training camp will commence with registration at Gunyah Retreat Centre, just outside of Bendigo, on 8 October at 11am and will end after the March For The Babies in Melbourne City on the 10 October.

With two and a half action packed days of pro-life training, entertainment and activities, this is an event not to be missed! For ages 14 and over, Youth For Life only have room for 12 lucky participants, so get your skates on to book your place today.

Cost of $65.00 includes pro-life pack, catering, accommodation and transport (including to Melbourne) costs. A chartered bus from Bendigo will take those who wish to Melbourne to March with Youth For Life at the March For The Babies! If you are attending just on a day to day basis, it's $12.00 per day, with an additional charge of $15.oo for the Melbourne bus.

Abortion laws 'feed illegal drug trade'

We may have another fight on our hands if this article from the ABC's World Today is anything to go by.

The president of the Australian College of Obstetricians has renewed the call for abortion to be decriminalised throughout Australia.

For many women, attending an abortion clinic is unaffordable or out of reach, so increasingly it seems some women are turning to what is known as a "medical" abortion - in others words, terminating a pregnancy by drugs rather than by surgery.

And the obstetrician Caroline de Costa says many of them are illegally buying a drug to induce their own abortions at home.

"The drug Misoprostol, which is legally available for a number of reasons in Australia, is also being used undercover or covertly by some women for procuring an abortion for themselves in Australia," she said.

"I think this is probably most common amongst some immigrant women from China and from south-east Asia, where the drug is widely used in this way anyway."

Dr de Costa is a professor of gynaecology and obstetrics at James Cook University's School of Medicine in Cairns. She is also an advocate of medical abortions carried out under a doctor's supervision.

Dr de Costa says it is disturbing to hear of women buying the drug illegally.

"I'm aware of anecdotal evidence that this is happening; I've spoken to colleagues who have also mentioned that they have come across cases," she said.

"We know that it is easy to access the drug on the internet, it is sold in Australia and prescribed in Australia for other purposes so it can be illegally accessed that way."

Medical abortions are available in many western countries including the US, Sweden and New Zealand, but not in Australia unless you visit one of a handful of gynaecologists.

Edith Weisberg is the director of research at Family Planning New South Wales and a senior clinical lecturer at Sydney University.

"I think the problem is that Australia is one of the few western countries that doesn't have medical abortion available as an option for women needing an abortion," Dr Weisberg said.

Another drug used for medical abortions is RU486 and Dr Weisberg says it is concerning to hear that some women in Queensland have also been illegally sourcing this drug.

"The problem is that first of all we don't know where they're sourcing it from and how good the product is - that's the first thing," she said.

"And the second thing is that RU486 used as an abortifacient is only about 85 per cent effective if you use it by yourself, so these women may in fact have incomplete abortions and need surgical evacuation of their uterus afterwards."

Ted Weaver is the president of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians.

"We think that if people have to resort to backyard approaches for doing these things then we think that's probably not a good idea," he said.

"There's a potential for harm for women; these drugs aren't without risk and whatever the rights and wrongs of abortion we think that women, if they choose to do this, should be able to access a safe service."

Dr Weaver says abortion needs to be decriminalised nationwide.

"There needs to be legislative certainty for doctors that they won't be prosecuted for performing abortions, if that's what they want to do, and that women shouldn't be prosecuted for trying to access one, if that's also what they want to do," he said.

"So we need to take it out of the criminal code, essentially.

"Some states have enacted law reform, Victoria has and South Australia has, but in Queensland abortion is still contained within the criminal code.

"The College's position would be that it should be taken out of the criminal code and if people want to access that service, and that's their business, then those services should be provided in a safe way."

On Tuesday 28th October 2008 Youth 4 Life will confront John Brumby as he prepares to raise awareness in the recent ‘Arrive Alive 2008-2017 Road Safety Strategy’ campaign. Premier Brumby will unveil car wrecks in Federation Square to elucidate the tragedy of the young lives lost on our roads each year, and Youth 4 Life will similarly unveil statistics of young Victorians murdered by the abortionists of this state annually.

While Premier Brumby reiterates the policies proposed within the Victorian Government’s Arrive Alive campaign, designed to drive down the current road toll by his projected 30 percent reduction, Youth 4 Life will put to Brumby a series of pertinent questions regarding his sweeping and hypocritical disregard of Victorian unborns and ask our Premier to look more deeply at the causes of death in our state.

There is a common misconception in this State that more young people are killed or maimed from road trauma than any other cause. We urge our Premier to recognise alongside the tragedy of these deaths on our roads, the slaughter of the most vulnerable of our countrymen, and insist that the infamous Abortion Law Reform Bill be immediately repealed.

Chairwoman of Youth 4 Life, Prue Neiberding said today: “The Brumby Labor Government ironically focuses on road deaths while fully endorsing the killing of a vast proportion of our youth in this country.”

Ms Neiberding went on to add, “In 2007, we suffered from 332 deaths on Victorian Roads, while just around the corner in the abortion mills 20,000+ children were violently torn to pieces with razor sharp curettes.”

Youth 4 Life will point out on this day that while the hypocritical Brumby Labor Government may have made a ‘strong and determined effort to reduced road trauma’, this is in distinct contrast to the recent passing of a Bill in this State which legalises the unrestricted genocide of Victorian human-beings up until the moment of birth.

Stephen Jury of Youth 4 Life also commented today, “The Brumby Labor Government have become the sponsors of home ‘DIY abortions’ which will leave women physically and emotionally damaged; have opened the door to large scale coercion of our medical professionals; have shamed this State of Victoria and put us on a level with the Nazi Regime and their notorious concentration camps”.

ABORTION protesters have disrupted a road safety campaign launch attended by grieving relatives in Melbourne.

About 10 protesters waved placards and posters of aborted foetuses at the launch of the road toll campaign at Federation Square.

The launch included moving testimonies of families who had lost loved ones in road smashes.

At one point, protesters compared the road toll to abortion statistics and accused Premier John Brumby of hypocrisy.

Mr Brumby had joined police and road safety officials for the launch of a Transport Accident Commission (TAC) exhibition.

The exhibition, Car Crash Reality Check, features two real car wrecks and stories from accident victims, their families and police.

The protesters yelled out as Mr Brumby addressed the media and were urged by his advisers and police to show some respect.

Mr Brumby was heckled as he made his way to his car.

Earlier this month, the Victorian Parliament passed the Abortion Law Reform Bill which decriminalises abortion, giving women open access to terminations up to 24 weeks.
